SOME WORKSHOP OUTLINE EXAMPLES

Natural Dyeing Workshop
Learn the art of dyeing naturally using plants, fruit and vegetables and metals as natural mordants to fix the colour.
Learn to dye paper and fabric to use as a basis for your own original art and textile work including garments.
While the 'brew' is bubbling learn the art of making string with eco-dyed fabric.
Book a workshop with me in my studio or at another venue.
*Materials include plant matter, mordants, some silk and watercolour paper.
What to bring: Small 100% silk or wool samples, gloves (latex), an apron or wear old clothes.
Lantern Making Workshop
Make a star lantern for Christmas or another shape. Put a candle in it – hang in your garden or outdoor area- lights up beautifully.
No experience necessary. Suitable for older primary students as well as adults. Younger children are welcome with an adult to assist.
Stitched Baskets
Make a Basket- Create a little handmade stitched basket using plant fibres, recycled materials, fabrics and other embellishments
Experimental Dyeing
Sun prints, Solar dyeing, Tie dyeing…try a few simple techniques for changing cloth and paper to create interesting patterns, colours and designs on fabric and paper. Explore mark making on textiles.
Cards and Ornaments
Make your own gift tags, a bauble and beaded Angel to hang on the Christmas tree.

Artist Books
Learn how to make simple or complex Artist books and journals. Tell a story, use a poem, or create interesting pages using mixed media techniques.
